- “Okay class your assignment will be to create a comic that contextualizes some problem with regards to this idea of capitalism”
- I wonder if the United States a capitalist?
- Capitalism: an economic and political system in which a country's trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the state.
- But what about if the state is controlled by private owners for profit
- "They are all bought and paid for man. They fund these campaigns so that politicians will support and pass policies to support their corporate profits. You should look more into it man it is all corrupt"
- "Hey, have you ever wondered why all these big corporations spend so much money on campaign donations"
- I need to get some answers from someones important
- "Well why wouldn't they be young man, running a campaigns requires lots of funding"
- "Hi congressman, why are political donations legal?"
- "Well I am confused as to why these "non-profit" organizations and extremely wealthy individuals "donate" millions of dollars if they do not benefit from it "
- "Uhh uhhm yes well you see these donors support our polices and uhhh beleive we will make america great again..."
- "Security! Get this kid out of here!"
- "So just to confirm, you are saying these political donors receive no sort of financial benefit by donating to your cause.."
- Well that was weird. I feel like there is something going on in our government that they don't want us to know about
- "I told you it was all corrupt man. Those congressman are just slaves to the corporate owners that donate to their campaigns"
- "Hey I just talked to our local congressman. When I brought up the whole political donations thing he freaked out"
- "Hello ex-senator thanks for meeting with me. How exactly do these donations given to politicians and political parties work"
- "Well you see, campaign donations come in many forms from different interest groups, organizations, and individuals"
- "However problems do arise with this idea of dark money, which refers to political spending meant to influence the decision of a voters"
- "This dark money is a problem because the donor is not disclosed and the source of the money is unknown. These unknown donations are what help fund specific economic interests of the elitist group in this country"
- "Wow that is kind of scary to think of. What can be done to prevent this?"
- "Nothing, nothing can be done. Those with the money are too powerful, those corporate owners amd elitist groups will always have power over our political system"
- "So nothing can be done to change this system? Are you saying my voice does not matter?"
- "Yes that is exactly what I am saying. Now hush up they are listening"
- "Ahhhh they are on to me"
- "....Told ya so..."
- "Dude you were right, it is all corrupt"
