They are motivated by the norms of their rivalry.Theme (Regret): As he lays in the rain, Andy thinks of Laura and what he had hoped to achieve in their relationship. He thought of what she may be doing at this time and how she may feel when he does not return.

- Conflict (Character vs. self) Angela could not bear the thought that she let someone die, so she came back for Andy, despite Freddie's noncompliance.Theme (independence): Angela made the decision to leave her boyfriend to try to help a dying stranger, even though it may ruin their reputation.
