  • MesoAmerican geography was divided into two parts the Lowlands and The Highlands the difference between them was that the lowlands here the coast of the Gulf of Mexico. The highlands were the mountains of the Sierra Madre.
  • THE MAYAS
  • The Olmec were a culture that began in Mexico's Gulf Coast around 1200 B.C. They are one of the earliest civilizations and influenced later cultures. The Olmec were mostly workers and were at the bottom of the society at the top were The Rulers then the priests, merchants and artists.
  • THE AZTECS
  • The Zapotec established a civilization and controlled the Oaxaca Valley for more than 1,000 years. They developed in their society in the Oaxaca Valley. The Zapotec lived in farming villages for centuries because the land was fertile had mild climate and lots of rain. Around 500 B.C. built a city known as Monte Albán which overlooked The Oaxaca Valley.
  • CORTEZ AND THE END OF THE AZTEC EMPIRE
  • the Maya developed present day Southern Mexico and Central America around 1500 B.C. The Maya farmers developed agricultural practices. They grew crops like beans, chili peppers, Cacao Beans and corn.
  • Around A.D. 1300 The nomads known as Aztec arrived in the Valley of Mexico. The Aztec served powerful kings as farmers or warriors. Then, The aztec overthrew their masters and founded their own city in 1325 called Tenochtitán.The city was built on two islands in a swamp
  • The Aztec depended of their military to maintain order of the kingdom The year the europeans invaders came they defeated the Aztec. They were small numbers but they were superior to the Aztec because of their weapons. The conquer ended with a great siege at Tenochtitán.
