- When doing a news report,Truth and Accuracy above all should be the most important factor when doing this news story
- This relates to broadcast journalism because the facts are up to date and are truthful, an example of how this is implemented is Journalism verifies, provides relevant context, tells the rest of the story and acknowledges the absence of important additional information.
- Broadcast Journalism involves a huge responsibility to the public, and the fact that by being truthful, you are giving facts and not making up opinions just to keep going with the story
- Responsible reporting means considering the consequences of both the news gathering – even if the information is never made public – and of the material’s potential dissemination. Certain stakeholders deserve special consideration; these include children, victims, vulnerable adults and others inexperienced with American media.
- As consumers, we can double check other sources to see if they are all reporting on the same thing, simply put: if one person says it, it doesn't always mean it's true
- For example:If a news reporter says that the world is going to end in 24 hours, and then you believe them at first, but check other sources and they don't say anything relating to this story, then that is a violation of this guiding principal
