- In the 17th century, a woman who lived in Boston named Hester Prynne gave birth to a beautiful girl, whom she named Pearl. At one point the town began to ask who was the father of this creature, however Hester did not want to say the name. Because of this she, Hester. was punished by getting a scarlet letter A on her chest as a sign of adultery.
- When Hester's husband, Roger Chillingworth finally arrived in town he was completely furious as he had found out about Hester's pregnancy. He asked Hester to tell him the name of her lover, but she did not agree. Because of this he swore that he would find out who her lover was and kill him. While all this was happening to the town reverend, Arthur Dimmesdale, something seemed to be happening to him.
- Hester, Pearl and Dimmesdale planned to run away when Pearl was 7. their plan was to go to Europe after Dimmesdale finished his speech on election day. During all this time Dimmesdale had had a very bad time, getting sicker and sicker until he was holding his chest in pain. But everything took a turn when Hester discovers that Chillingworth had bought a ticket for the same ship they were supposed to board.
- Election day has arrived and Arthur is ready to give his sermon. Full of energy he gave his sermon, which is considered by the people as his best sermon to date. But before he finished, he called Pearl and Hester to the stand to say a few last words. Not with words, but with his actions, it seems that he had something to do with Hester's adultery. Dimmesdale ripped his shirt off for the whole town to see that he had a letter A etched into his skin, after which he died.
- The villagers were stunned, so much so that they could not believe what they had seen. Some strongly denied that the reverend had a letter A on his chest. After what happened, a year later Chillingworth dies but not before without leaving his entire inheritance to Pearl. Hester and Pearl leave town after what happened.
- After many years Hester returns to Boston and lives in a small cabin. While she lived there she continued to use the respective letter A despite not having to, a woman saw her one day and went to her to get advice from her and tell her that she respected her a lot. Finally Hester Prynne dies in Boston and is buried near Dimmesdale.
