- Why are they forcing this dress code on us?
- We should not be forced to wear this!
- The strict dress-code we had at my old school was similar to Marjanes event because we were repressed in the things we were allowed to wear. Removing our personal freedoms to express. The comparison is that we were both forced to wear stricter clothing. If this did not happen we would have more freedom of expression.
- The Veil's that Marjane and her friends were forced to wear at school is significant because it represents the lack of personal freedoms and repression. If this did not occur then she would have more freedoms.

- I must go to Austria for my safety.
- This place is not safe.. We must go for our saftey
- The major event here is that Marjane had to move away from Iran for her safety. Making her experience the different culture there. Representing the lack of choice when things get dangerous. If this did not happen her life would be more dangerous.
- The event I had was when I had to move away from Florida for safety reasons as we lived in a bad area. Moving from Florida to Indianapolis made me experience the differing cultures here. The connection is that we both moved for our saftey. If this did not happen my childhood would be more dangerous

- The community and culture has shifted so much!
- The community and place is so much more safer!
- Me going back to Florida was significant to me as it showed me how things have changed in the community and how things have gotten safer overall. The connection is that we both went back to our birthplace and experienced how different things have gotten. If this did not happen I would think Florida stayed the same.
- After years being abroad Marjane goes back to Iran and experiences the culture shift and how different things have gotten since she left. Thus shaping her journey of self acceptance and empowerment and showing that things have changed drastically. If this did not happen she would think Iraa stayed the same.
