Once there was a boy who was callous and vindictive and took pleasure in hurting others. He always had his catapult where he would aim mostly on birds. All boys were afraid of him even his mother called him rakshasa. After school, all would return back to home but Bodh Raj would be off on his wanderings. One day the narrator's father got a promotion and they moved into a large bungalow. It was an old-style bungalow on the outskirts of the city. The only exception to meet him was Bodh Raj as it was a good hunting ground The trees had many monkeys and nests. And the storeroom had become a haunt of pigeons and there was also a mynah's nest. The floor was littered with feathers and bird droppings, broken eggs, and bits of straw from the nest. The narrator's mother didn't agree narrator's friendship with Bodh Raj as she was scared if the narrator also becomes like him, but then she realized that the narrator was alone and need company.
One day narrator's mother said that
"If your friend is fond of destroying nests, then tell him to clean our storeroom .The bird have made it very filthy."
Narrator protested,'You said, it's cruel to destroy nests .'
I didn't suggest to he should kill the birds. He can remove the nests without harming them
The next time Bodh Raj came the narrator took him to the godown. It was dark and smelly as thought they had entered an animal's lair. The narrator was somewhat worried that if Bodh Raj would destroy the nests and pull out the birds feathers and broke their eggs. As usual Bodh Raj had bought his catulpult.First he studied the position of the nests under the roof. Near the ventilator was the mynah's nest.
