- In this scene Lyddie was in her cabin when suddenly a bear came inside the house and started going through their stuff. But it was not for long until Lyddie acted up and was begging very hard and trying to think of ideas In the text it says “Don't break nothing, she begged silently. They couldn't afford to replace any of the household goods. Next the beast knocked over a jar of apple butter, but the skin lid was tied on tightly.” Pg. 3
- In this scene Lyddie was exploring the farm without her mistress permission, and so when she returns back to the tavern she finds the mistress waiting for her very angrily . The mistress immediately fires her. In the text it says “So! You've decided to honor us with a visit! The mistress's face was red with heat or rage… “You're dismissed,” the woman said” Pg.44.
- In this scene Charlie and Lyddie were going to the farm house that the quakers own and they invited them to stay there and eat some lunch. Once they were done eating, Luke needed some help. The horse and cow and Lyddie came to the conclusion that she should help and not be a useless lady. In the text it says, “She couldn't have the man thinking she was a child or a helpless female.” Pg. 15
