- "I've got something to tell you."
- Mary Malone, who is 6 months pregnant, is sitting in her home waiting for her husband to arrive. They go out for dinner every Thursday. She is sewing something and sitting in the living room, watching the clock knowing he is supposed to arrive, and preparing everything to be nice for his return.
- Her husband is there and she serves him whiskey and looks after him. He tells her that he is divorcing her.
- Mary Malone goes into the kitchen to arrange for supper. She offered to make him dinner but he shouted "No!" She hit him with the frozen leg of lamb she was planning to cook.
- Personally , I think it's right here on the premises. Probably right under our very noses.
- She was 6 months pregnant and knew that the punishment for murder was death. She was worried about her baby. She went downstairs and she sat down before the mirror and fixed her makeup and rehearsed acting normally and decided to go to the grocery store so no one would be suspicious.
- She went to Sam's store and bought 2 potatoes and a can of beans. Then Sam suggested her to buy a slice of cheesecake and she also bought that too. She acted cheerfully and then walked home. When she got home, she pretended to be shocked to find her husband dead and called the police station
- All the policemen checked the house for a long time and she asked them if they could please eat up the lamb she had cooked so that it did not go to waste. So they all ate the leg of lamb, wondering where the murder weapon was. Mary giggled sitting on her chair.
