  • 4 major phases after interphase
  • Do you know the first phase of the cell cycle?
  • Yes, it's the interphase.interphase. during this time it grows, replicates its chromosomes, and prepares for cell division.
  • What happens next?
  • In prophase, the chromosomes in the nucleus change from being loosely dispersed to becoming more condensed. This change in chromosome structure makes them easier to move around the cell, an important structural change for what is about to happen.
  • What's next?
  • There is an important checkpoint in the middle of mitosis, called the metaphase checkpoint, during which the cell ensures that it is ready to divide.
  • Anaphase, is the 4th stage of mitosis after the process of metaphase. the process that separates the duplicated genetic material carried in the nucleus of a parent cell into two identical daughter cells.
  • Telophase refers to the final step of nuclear division, which follows anaphase, in which two daughter nuclei are formed through the formation of nuclear membranes. And Cytokinesis starts during the nuclear division phase called anaphase and continues through telophase.
