  • I learned that Part C of IDEA provides financial assistance to states for the purpose of providing services to infants and toddlers with disabilities. 
  • I learned the difference between convergence and congruence. Convergence refers to whether the assessment relies on more than one source of information, and congruence refers to whether an assessment was developed and field-tested with children similar to those being assessed. 
  • I learned that early childhood education programs include any type of educational program that serves children in preschool years, that is also designed to improve future school performance

  • I learned that if parents or the parent advocate cannot attend the IFSP meeting then the meeting will not occur.
  • The second fact I learned
  • When the child with a disability nears the age of three, he or she must be considered for services beyond early intervention services. These services include special education preschool programs (under Part B of the IDEIA), Head Start programs, and public and private preschool programs.
  • The third fact I learned 
  • I learned that special education preschool programs are for children with disabilities aging from 3-5 years old. The child also must have an IEP in place by the age of 3.
