- the Germans have invaded Poland, quickly overtaking Krakow

- How Horrible! He died, With salt rubbed against his wounds, It was a purification and Punishment at the same time!
- The Germans had made the pole's move out, leaving in only Jews, calling it the "Jewish ghetto", and they'd soon make the Jews move towards concentration camps for the war effort. this is also were Yanek lost his mother and father, after they got abducted for work after waiting in line for rations
- Trzebinia Concentration Camp
- there's no point in retaliating, they'll only kill us if we do.
- One day, Yanek was taken off the streets, into the Plaszow Concentration camp, where he met up with his uncle Moshe. Yanek had work detail at a tailor shop. But Uncle Moshe didn't, and got shot and died by Amon Goeth, who didn't like his responds after saying how many rocks did they break.
- Birkenau Concentration Camp
- We are alive, and that's all that matters. We cannot let them tear us from the pages of the world.
- This is were Yanek saw his people murder one of another, after he recognized a man from Krakow as a Judenrat, He was also doing labor by mining the walls for salt
- this where Yanek mined rocks. And where one of his people retaliated, resulting in the death of more jews than nazi's, with a rate of 9-0, A failed retaliation
- This is where Yanek received wooden shoes, and did a Bar mitzvah for another boy, who was turning 13. This is also where some of the jews tried too escape, only too get caught and shot too death.
