May 17, 1954The United States Supreme Court rules racial segregation in public schools unconstitutional in Brown v. Board of Education of Topeka. Five days later, the Little Rock School Board issues a policy statement saying it will comply with the Supreme Court’s decision.

September 4, 1957Two days after Orval Faubus calls out the Arkansas National Guard, The Little Rock Nine try and go to school but are turned away by the Guard from entering. Faubus said that this was for their safety.
Judge Davies rules that Faubus had used the troops to prevent integration, not to preserve law and order as he claimed. The Guard is removed.
September 23, 1957A large mob of angry people are in front of the school, the nine black students go inside through a side door. When the mob finds out that the students are inside, the mod goes crazy and the police start to fear that they won't be able to maintain control.
NO INTEGRATION!
September 25, 1957The nine African American students finally have their first day of school and by Fall of 1972, all of the schools in Little Rock are integrated.
