- The Battle of Saratoga: A Turning Point
- Moderates in Congress draft the olive branch petition asking the king to restore peace. The king rejects this petition. Then the king sends the British navy to block ships from leaving ports.
- The Battle of Yorktown
- The national army was formed of untrained volunteers, they began to enlist for only 1 year. Congress didn't have money so they couldn't provide soldiers with shoes, blankets, or guns.
- The Treaty of Paris 1783
- excuse me please don't include British in the painting. I don't wanna be seen as your equals.
- The Americans up until now have lost every battle against the British. But then European nations decide to help the Americans. France also gives secret aid to the Americans. After this, the Americans kept winning the battles.

- The Americans were able to defeat the British at the battle of Yorktown because they started attacking the higher-ups. The battle of Yorktown was the last major battle of the American Revolution.
- The treaty officially ended the revolutionary war and the United States was now independent. There was a portrait of the men who negotiate the Treaty but the British refused to be a part of the portrait. They did not want to appear in a painting that showed Americans as their equals.

- After the war was over there were many problems. An estimated 25,700 Americans died during the war, Thousands of loyalists lost their property, those who survived left with little or no money, and there was a national debt of 27 million.
