Churchills speech took place in the United States on March 5, 1946. His speech was very important because he announced the starting of the Cold War. The Iron Curtain was a imaginary line seperating Europe into two areas.
Nato vs. Warsaw Pact
The Trumine Doctrine was a policy made by President Truman that stated the U.S. would provide political, military and economic assistance to democractic nations.

President Truman signed this plan on April 3, 1948. It was to aid Western Europe by the United States providing economic assistance and rebuilding Western Europes economy.
The NATO pact was formed to defend the communist Soviet Union. The Warsaw pact was the alliance between the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe. The NATO and Warsaw were the two main sides in the war.
Between 1989 and 1990 the Berlin Wall, a guarded concrete barrier that physically and ideologically divided Berlin from 1961 to 1989 as well as encircling and separating West Berlin from East German territory which was Soviet Land, came down and the Cold War came to an end. The USSR was then, due to the President stepping down and a bunch of other events, consequently wiped off of the map for good.
