- This is pathos because he is saying that he is not in the wrong and he is making them feel bad for what they did
- I had hoped that the white moderate would understand that law and order exist for the purpose of establishing justice and that when they fail in this purpose they become the dangerously structured dames that block the flow of social progress
- Then, last September, came the opportunity to talk with leaders of Birmingham's economic community. In the course of the negotiations, certain promises were made by the merchants- for example, to remove the stores' humiliating racial signs.
