- "Spare me! You forget nothin' and forgive nothin'. I have gone tiptoe in thishouse all seven months since she is gone. ...and still an everlanding funeral marches round your heart."
- "John, you are not open with me. I do not judge you. The magistrate sits in your heart that judge you. I never thought you but a good man..."

- Elizabeth and John get into a heated argument because they are weird place in their marriage after John's affair.
- Mary Warren comes back from town and John is upset that she left the house. They get into an argument outside the home where Mary reveals that Good Proctor was thought to be doing witchcraft.
- Cheever comes into the Proctor home and finds evidence of a poppet that Abigail says has a needle inside of it. This connects Elizabeth to using witchcraft supposedly. He reviles he has a warrant for her arrest.
