- Are you ready?
- it was going to be the perfect night, golden rays of sunshine glistened against my skin, cotton hugged me as i slipped into a beautiful dress that accentuated my body. I was dressing up not for the attention of men as many who saw me that night may have assumed but as a celebration of my new found self confidence.
- Yas girl!
- i am soooo drunk omg 
- While my friends and I celebrated our youth, friendship, and new beginnings, my consumption of alcohol heavily increased.
- hahahaah, me too!!!
- do you want to come to the bedroom with me? 
- By the time I saw him my words were slurred, and my mind was detached from reality.  I can’t tell you what was said ,I don’t remember.
- (slurring words) um no its ok
- All I recall was the contentment spreading across his shark-likeface as his hands weighed me down and violated me.

- It wasn’t until the next morning I found out his identity. A rich private schoolboy, top athlete with his elite education handed to him on a golden platter. Instead of using his privilege for good, he used it to take advantage of me. He was a product of a culture rife with misogyny. A culture that breeds a sense of entitlement and encourages young men like him to take what he wants when he wants it

- . I soon heard through the grapevine that he had bragged to his friends about what he had done to me. I can imagine his sinister smile as he described me with derogatory terms, boasting his latest conquest, unwittingly presenting a perfect microcosm of patriarchal belief in doing so. But maybe it was my fault? I drank too much and asked for it. Afterall, that is the standard societal reaction to this type of thing.
