Storyboard Text

  • Once upon a time, lived microorganisms in the mystical waters of an enchanted land.
  • The microorganisms were not known to the intellectual beings, due to their microscopic size.
  • There is a great kingdom in these waters, called Kingdom Protista
  • The kingdom is split into two towns. One was called Protozoa and the other Algae
  • Within the Town of Protozoa, there was four main types of citizens, the Sarcodina, Mastigophora, Ciliophora, and Sporozoa.
  • The Sarcodina has no standard body shape, and can change shape at will. When they wish to move, or eat, they from extensions of their bodies called pseudopods, which are false feet.
  • They also have a distinct membrane bound nucleus, contract vacuoles, and food vacuoles.
  • The Mastigophora has flagellates (wand) used for locomotion. They are both autotrophic and saprophytic, but once they are saprophytic, they cannot be autotrophic. Only happens when there is no access to sunlight for a long period of time.
  • They have chloroplast, eyespots, nucleus, contractile vacuole, and pellicle.
  • The Ciliophora has cilia, hairlike projects, which they use for locomotion. Unlike other organisms, they have micro and macronucleus. The macronucleus is in charge of controlling the metabolism, while the micronucleus controls the reproduction.
  • They also have gullet, oral pore, oral grove, contractile vacuole and food vacuole
