- Erak has been captured by the arridas and now they have to pay a 50,000 ransom for there friend
- help Erak has been captured while on a raid
- Halt Will Gilan princess Cassandra and Horace all agree to meet the arridans and agree to terms on the ransom.
- Will's horse tug whom he holds a bond with is lost in a sandstorm after crossing the dessert into Aridda to get Erak back. Seleythen the man who captured Erak for a ransom helps him.

- They have successfully made it back home and will an apprentice has now graduated and became a full on ranger
