- However, with lossless files, you dont lose any data. These are yoused when you need to not lose data like in text documents, and spreadsheets but also if you wish too keep an images full quality. One method of lossless compression is run length encoding (RLE). RLE looks at the data in a file for consecutive runs of the same data. These runs are stored as one item of data, instead of many.
