Storyboard Text

  • Like the opening of the curtains at the theatre to signify the beginning of the play, the cervix dilates to signify the beginning of the child birthing process, during this time the cervix expands from its usual diameter of about 6cm, to an enlarged 10cm
  • Act 1: Dilation of the cervix
  • After the cervix has dilated, the decent of the baby can occur, it will move through the birth canal, and eventually exit through the vagina, or a c section may have to occur if the child is stuck within the birth canal, but much like the arrival of the star actor, the arrival of the baby is met with much fanfare and excitement.
  • Act 2: delivery of the baby
  • Much like the epilogue of a story, or the post credits scene of a movie, the placenta arrives after the climax of the story, or the delivery of the baby, specifically about 30-60 minutes later when the hormone oxytocin is released making the uterus contract and become smaller causing the placenta to separate.
  • Act 3: delivery of the Placenta
  • DUM!
