  • I wish that everything that I touch be turned to gold
  • The golden touch!
  • The setting of this story takes place in King Midas's castle and garden. He lived here with his sweet and innocent daughter named Marigold. This is important to the plot by illustrating the atmosphere in which the story took place, which can be inferred to be medieval times which took place a very long time ago.
  • My precious, precious Marigold!
  • This scene gives readers a good idea into King Midas's self characterization. King Midas's is greedy and even though he has countless amounts of gold he still wants more. He lost interest and love in anything that wasn't gold like roses and music. This characterization of King Midas will soon deepen the plot with dialogue and bring upon the conflict.
  • I am miserable!
  • This scene depicts a piece of dialogue between King Midas and a stranger. After being ask his greatest wish, they talk of the golden touch, what Midas believes is the answer to his greatest wish. The stranger with the bright smile soon answers King Midas's wish. This dialogue is important because it shows readers the start of his soon to be biggest conflict.
  • Marigold!
  • Midas becomes aware that with the golden touch he can't do simple things like eat or drink and ends up turning his beloved daughter to gold. This is the conflict and necessary to the plot because this is when King Midas realizes he is wrong and regrets his greedy wish.
  • This scene show the irony of Midas's situation, his greatest desire was for more gold, after his wish for the golden touch he realizes the wish would soon turn into his huge mistake. Through Midas's greed he mistakenly brought upon himself a curse disguised as everything he ever wanted. The irony of this scene is important because it sets up the theme for the story.
  • This scene shows readers the resolution to the story as everything returns as it once was but with King Midas's new appreciation for what he has. The theme to this story is that being greedy has it's consequences and can end up hurting the people you love. Don't take what you have for granted.
