Storyboard Text

  • Daisy introduces her daughter Penny.
  • She doesn't look like her father. She looks like me. She's got my hair and shape of the face.
  • Dinner at the Buchanan's
  • All right, I'm perfectly willing to go to town. Come on- we're all going to town
  • Going to town
  • The person who takes care of Penny brings out Penny to Daisy and the rest of the people at the Buchanan house. Penny resembles her mother more than her father Tom. This surprising news does not excite Gatbsy as he felt that she did not exist until now. He did not like Penny because she did not fit into his vision for his future with Daisy.
  • Argument at the room
  • What kind of a row are you trying to cause into my house anyhow?
  • Daisy never loved you!
  • During dinner at the Buchanan's, the room becomes unbearably hot which also starts to create irritation and tension between the characters. They then all agree to decide to go to town so that they can relax and cool off.
  • Daisy says "I love you"
  • While going to town, Tom proposes to Gatbsy that he drives his car and that Gatsby can drive the blue coupe. During the car ride into town, Tom reveals to Jordan and Nick that he is aware that Gatbsy is messing around with Daisy and that he plans on putting an end to it.
  • Myrtle car accident
  • When they reach the room, Tom begins to question Gatsby and accuses him of being a fraud. He also accuses Gatbsy of sneaking around with his wife and gets into an argument about whether or not Daisy loves Tom.
  • During the heated argument, Gatsby pressures Daisy into making her say what he has always wanted. However, Daisy ends up breaking down and reveals that at one point she has loved Tom and that it wouldn't be true to say that she hasn't. This confuses Gatsby and he tries to calm her down so that she can get back to her normal self.
  • Yes I never loved him and I always loved you... but it would be a lie to say I never loved Tom
  • Daisy, tell him that you never loved him.
  • At the end of the chapter when Daisy and Gatsby make their way home, Daisy ends up accidentally hitting Myrtle with the car. Myrtle, who thought Tom was in the yellow car, reached out to the car on the road but ended up getting hit. Gatsby is not shook from the event but moreover he is worried for Daisy and how she is holding up.
