- On planet Earth bacteria and viruses were taking over and Sam the scientist wanted to put an end to them!
- I am going to put an end to viruses and bacteria! They keep causing mayhem!
- He has the perfect solution ...
- Hmmm... This vaccine has a part of the virus in it which will cause an immune system response preventing future infections
- What is happening to the viruses?
- Ok this should work...
- You will NEVER end us! Hahaha
- Oh no! the viruses have mutated! Viruses evolve just like any other organism, through recombinations, mutations and coevolution with humans. Look at them go!
- DID THEY JUST TALK... WHY IS THERE SO MANY OF THEM? OK BACK TO MY RESEARCH
- Doesn't he know we have been evolving for millions of years now!
- Sam is about to have a a-ha moment... These little guys developed vaccine resistance. Vaccines can’t work for long amounts of time because new strains develop constantly.
- Mutationscan help prevent vaccines from working on viruses
- Hmm... maybe this vaccine isn't working because of a new strain that evolved a mutation against vaccines
- But Sam the Scientist loves new challenges...
- Wait but for bacteria I should use antibiotics... Lets hope they don't mutate like viruses

- But just as for viruses, evolution in bacteria leads them to having defence mechanisms such as antibiotic resistance.
- This has to work this time!!
- Well he is in for a treat... we mutate, exchange DNA and reproduce quickly to get resistance just like viruses
- Sorry Sam ... they may be small but viruses and bacteria are mighty!! Viruses that adapted to vaccines are proven to become more deadly.
