- Jack was out hunting for pigs. Ever since he hesitated in killing the pig before he has become obsessed with hunting.
- Jack goes back to camp to ask for water and found Simon and Ralph building huts.
- One of the shelters they were building fell apart. This leads to Ralph and Jack having an argument about everyone's behavior recently.
- Ralph and Jack have a disagreement about what they need. Ralph argues that they need shelters in case it were to rain again while Jack argues that they need meat. Eventually Ralph become enraged that all Jack is thinking about is hunting while he is trying to create a solution and a plan to help everyone. Eventually they realize that Simon leaves after being fed up with their arguing.
- Ralph and Jack go to the bathing-pool expecting to find Simon there. They begin to wonder where he could have gone. In the end the sound of the boys laughing and splashing water was enough to bring them back together.
- While Simon follows a path in the forest he stumbles upon littluns. When the littluns spot him they lead him to a tree while pointing to fruit. Simon notices that they can't reach the fruit on the tree and so he pulls on the best ones he could find and hands them over to the young boys.
