Hi! I'm here in Cuba, that is part of the Caribbean Islands. Did you know that this Island is one of the many places that the Taíno people lived?
Hi Chloe! I was just talking about how the Taíno people used to live here!
Yeah! It was so hot that they didn't even need to wear clothes! And they were very hygienic for that time period!
The Taíno people invented many things. Like a gommier, which is a canoe.
And, they invented the hammock!
They honored their ancestors an believed that at certain times they should be greeted by the living. The honored all parts of the natural world.
The Taíno people valued kindness and generosity. For this reason they had few conflicts with other civilizations.
Everyone, even the leaders, doctors, and priests either worked in the garden, fished, or hunted.Everyone was set with a food or goods producing task.
Yeah! And unlike Spain, at that time the people we valued over greed and money. Their society worked so that everyone had the right to eat.
Interesting Fact Time! Did you know that they had a trading system and traded with people all throughout the Caribbean?
I hope you enjoyed learning about the Taíno people with us! Bye!
That's cool! Did you know that Taíno people tamed ducks and the eventually roasted and ate them?
