  • Introduction
  • Okay Class, today we will be learning about Aristotle, one of the greatest philosophers of ancient Greece.
  • Slide: 2
  • Early Views Of The Cosmos
  • Aristotle believed in a geocentric universe, placing Earth at the center of the cosmos
  • We live in a geocentric model of the universe; our earth is the center of everything.
  • That sounds dumb but since you're the smartest person in Greece we believe you sir.
  • Slide: 3
  • The Nature Of Stars
  • Look at these stars' kids, they don't move or change position since there fixed on something i call a celestial sphere.
  • Aristotle believed that the stars were attached to a transparent sphere that rotated around the Earth. This idea was rooted in the belief that the heavens were perfect and unchanging, unlike the Earth, which was seen as imperfect and subject to change.

  • Lunar Phases
  • Aristotle observed that the moon goes through a series of phases, from new to full and back again. He sought to explain these changes, which are the result of the moon’s position relative to the Earth and the sun.
  • Slide: 5
  • Observations of Eclipses
  • He correctly described eclipses, attributing them to the shadow of Earth or the moon.
  • "Look closely, my students! A solar eclipse occurs when the moon blocks the sun’s light from reaching Earth. Similarly, a lunar eclipse happens when Earth casts its shadow on the moon. Both reveal the dance of celestial bodies and their interconnectedness in our universe!"

  • Exile
  • In 323 BCE, after the death of Alexander the Great, Aristotle faced exile from Athens.
  • It seems my philosophical beliefs have become too controversial for this city. But I shall continue my quest for knowledge, no matter where it takes me. remember, my students, the pursuit of truth is worth every sacrifice.
  • We will miss you sir!
