THIS IS WHAT YOU GET FOR TALKING TO ANOTHER GUY!
Teen dating violence is a serious problem among teenage couples around the world. Teen dating violence includes physical, psychological or sexual abuse.
HEY STOP THAT!
In this example you can see a teenage couple walking down the street and the boyfriend is very mad at his girlfriend and shouting at her.
YEAH GET OUT OF HEAR AND DONT COME BACK! YOU GIRL CALL THE POLICE!
Now you can see the boyfriend throwing something at the girlfriend, shouting things at her, and expressing jealousy to her. Throwing things at her is an example of physical abuse. Shouting things at her and calling her names are examples of emotional and verbal abuse.
Now while they are fighting and the boyfriend is abusing and hurting the girlfriend, a person that was walking by and runs over to intervene and stop the boyfriend from hitting the girlfriend. This is an example of direct intervention because he is directly targeting the abuser and addresses the problem and steps in to help.
Now the bystander can be seen yelling at the abusive boyfriend and telling him to leave. The boyfriend runs away and the girlfriend can be seen calling the police now that she is safe.
In these type of scenarios the best thing for the victim to do is to run away or separate themselves from the abuser and in worst case scenarios call the police or call for help to get someone else involved. One reliable and safe resource for the abused person is the Teen Dating Abuse Hotline which is available 24/7 to help victims of dating abuse.
