- The mad dog in to kill a mocking bird symbolizes racism, the whole street doesn't like the dog and is scared of him because he has rabies, the town is racist and doesn't like black people, they treat them differently and treat them like they are monsters. they treat the dog like tom Robinson because in the end they just kill the dog.
- this illustrates more of the theme of racism against black people, white people have their own church which is kept in better condition and they have the better things while the other people don't get a nice looking church or the nicer things. they want to protect their church because it's one of the only things they have left.

- this scene also shows the theme of racism, Jem is talking to Atticus about the trial and about tom, Atticus knows that tom doesn't have a good chance of winning, he knows that they are going to judge solely on race and that pretty much immediately tom Robinson is going to be found guilty because of the color of his skin.
- Boo Radley
- Man that kid ate both of the pieces of gum so ill give them a whole pack so the boy gets some too
- This shows the theme of boo Radley being a mockingbird, he is giving the kids presents and things for nothing in return, like how a mockingbird sings for people with nothing in return. Boo Radley is very obviously a big theme in this story, and how he is misunderstood to be something bad, but in reality, he is just a mockingbird. In this scene scout just walked boo Radley home and watched him go inside, scout Is thinking about all the things boo has done for them and how they have done nothing for him.
- "Boo was our neighbor. He gave us 2 soap dolls, a broken watch and chain, a pair of good-luck pennies, and our lives."
- Tom Robinson is a mocking bird because when mayella asked him for help, he would help, he did no harm, he didn't kiss her, he had just helped her. All Tom Robinson did was try and help people, he did no harm, that's what made him a mockingbird because all they do is sing for people, they do no harm.
- Hey tom robinson! come help me!
- Ill go help that person!
- Boo Radley is a mocking bird because whenever the kids do something (like when Jem kept checking his watch) boo gives them something or gives them something similar (like how because of jem, boo gave him another watch) Boo follows what the kids do.
