- Yea, The Incredibles movie was really inspirational! You know, it actually reminds me of what we learned in religion class about marriage and family.
- That movie was awesome! I love how the family stuck together despite everything.

- In Catholic teaching, marriage isn’t just about love, it’s actually a sacred vocation
- Really? Isn’t marriage just about being in love?

- Really? Like a calling?
- Yeah! It’s called a sacramental covenant, a promise that’s meant to be free, total, faithful, and fruitful. CCC 1643 says it reflects God’s love itself.

- Well, marriage builds the family, which the Church calls the ‘social cell’ of society. Genesis 2:24 even says, ‘The two shall become one flesh.' This means marriage creates a bond meant to bring new life and stability to the world.
- But why is it so important to society?

- So it’s about more than feelings?
- Exactly! It’s also about fidelity and indissolubility, which is the idea that marriage is a lifelong promise. YOUCAT Q. 260 explains it’s faithful like Christ’s love for the Church.

- And it makes sense for us, too… My family taught me about commitment and why love should be open to procreation... being willing to welcome new life.
- That’s living out the faith! And CCC 1648 reminds us marriage helps couples grow in compassion and holiness, not just happiness.

- So Catholic teaching sees marriage as more than private love, it’s a mission to serve God and the common good.
- And by living free, total, faithful, fruitful love, we build stronger families and a better society.
