A young, newly crowned duchess named Merrill of a medieval kingdom is the victim of an unsuccessful murder attempt. Her uncle and aunt, the king and queen, decide that she cannot protect herself and needs a bodyguard, and who is better than her old childhood friend and the man who saved her life, Sir Miller? However, the people who tried to kill the duchess will not give up, however, they try another tactic. One of the group disguises as a servant and slips a love potion into the duchess's drink, hoping she will fall in love with the servant and be lured away from the castle. However, Sir Miller accidentally drinks it first and falls in love with the duchess since she is the person he sees. Distraught, the duchess goes on a quest to find the people who are trying to kill her and force them to provide the antidote. However, the love potion was poorly made, so there's no telling if Sir Miller being enamoured with the duchess was the work of the potion, or real love that he never let on...and on their journey, what if the duchess is beginning to have feelings for Sir Miller, too?
