Before Jesus was condemned to death, He shared a last supper with His 12 Disciples. Jesus took the bread and said "Take and eat, this is my body." Then He took the wine and said "Take this all of you and drink of it, for this is my blood."

Judas went to the chief priests of the time and asked what he will get in return if he betrayed Jesus to them. The Chief Priests counted out 30 silver coins.

To make fun of Jesus they stripped Him of his clothes and put on Him a purple robe. Purple is usually the color of royalty, so they dressed Him in this color to mock him.
John 19:16-17 Jesus takes up his cross
To further mock Jesus they put a crown upon His head, but it was no ordinary crown. The crown was made of thorns that pierced his head.
Jesus was asked if He was guilty of any crime by Pilate, but Pilate knew the truth. The truth was Jesus was not guilty of any crime. Looking to please the crowds, Pilate released the prisoner Barabbas and ordered for Jesus to be crucified.
It was Roman custom for the Condemned man to carry his cross to the place where he would be killed. Jesus knew what He had to do to save us so He took up His cross for us.
