  • Wassup James, I got a question?
  • Wassup Sam, what's your question?
  • Yeah, it's the belief that the United States is destined to expand across the entire continent.
  • Have you heard of Manifest Destiny?
  • Yeah, it's a pretty controversial concept.
  • Right, and it was used to justify the colonization and takeover of Native American land.
  • That's true, but it's important to recognize the harm and injustice that was inflicted on Native American communities.
  • I know, but at the time, many people believed it was their God-given right to settle the land.
  • Absolutely. We need to learn from our past mistakes and do better in the future.
  • Definitely. It's a dark part of American history that we can't ignore or forget.
  • Definitely. We can't move forward without first acknowledging and addressing the past.
  • And that starts with acknowledging the harm and suffering caused by Manifest Destiny.
  • Definitely. It's not just about saying the right things, it's about doing the right things too.
  • And it's not just about words. We need to take action to make things right, like returning stolen land and providing reparations.
  • Absolutely. We need to listen to their voices and work together to create a better future for everyone.
  • We also need to recognize and respect the sovereignty of Native American communities.
  • Definitely. It's not going to be easy, but it's necessary if we want to create a more just and equitable society.
  • And that means dismantling the systems and structures that continue to oppress and marginalize Native American communities.
  • It's going to take a lot of hard work and commitment, but I believe we can do it.
  • Me too. Let's start by educating ourselves and others, and then take action to make real change.
  • Yes it was, thank you.
  • That was a good conversation, James.
  • I'm going to my Dads today, so I'm riding with you on the bus.
  • Is your mom picking you up or are you going to your Dads.
