Storyboard Text

  • Without realising it, nature is entwined in every memory and experience I've had. Nature is the snowy hills I ski on every year with my family, Nature is the sandy beaches I walk across with my friends, nature is my dog, and the fields he loves to run on. I've always understood and appreciated nature, But I've never tried to understand the different forms it takes for other people. Spiritual song of the aborigine uses imagery to communicate a physical connection that indigenous peoples have to the natural world. "I'm the snow, the woods, and the falling rain". Reading this quote, and digging through the metaphorical layers has unlocked a different way to view our world. It shows me that nature is not just a resource, but instead is a part of us, and therefore should be cherished. Taking this new found perspective with me, I regarded the poem "stopping by the woods on a snowy evening". this poem presents nature as a friend. Something that supports you, heals you, and comforts you. "the woods are lovely, dark, and deep". This quote is an example of the way Robert Frost sees nature, as a living, breathing organism, the perfect being. These poems, although have not challenged my previous way of viewing our world, have invited me to experience the different ways that humans benefit from nature.
