Storyboard Text

  • The Athenians collided into the Persians killing the Persians in the front row. the flanks of the Athenian army killed off most of the soldiers flanks of the Persians, but the Persians were pushing back the Greek center. So the Flanks turned around and went towards the remaining Persian army. The Persians were surrounded, forced to retreat back to the ships. King Darius sent out some men to buy time for his fleeing ships. The Athens killed off the Men King Darius sent and the Athenians were able to capture 7 Persian ships.
  • The Greeks heard about the Persian invasion and they wanted the Spartans to lead them. The Spartan council of elders didn't want Sparta to go to war yet, but King Leonidas decided to fight without the approval of the council of elders. He took 300 men as his Personal bodyguards. The other Greeks arrived first, repairing old defenses. King Xerxes sent some of his army to defeat the Greeks. The Greeks defeated the army Xerxes sent. So Xerxes sent out the Persian immortals. The Greeks pretended to fall back only to trick the immortals to lose formation and after they did, the Greeks killed off the Persian Immortals. Xerxes didn't want to lose anymore elite troops but a Greek farmer told the Persians about a tight road leading behind the Greek lines. As soon as they found it they traveled behind it. The Greeks decided to fall back but 1500 Greeks and the 300 Spartans would stay to buy time for their fleeing troops. The Spartans and the Greeks charged the Persians with the intention to kill as any as possible
  • After killing the Spartans in Thermopylae, The Persians pillaged city after city until they reached the gates of Athens which they burned. The Athenians leader Themistocles knew the Persians wouldn't attacked directly and that they relied on a traitor to lead the way. Themistocles would use a betrayal to his advantage. He sent his trusty servant to act like a traitor to fool Xerxes. The messenger told him that the Athenian troops were unorganized and on the brink of defection. The Persian navy headed towards the straits of Salamis. When they arrived they didn't see disorganized troops, rather ships ready in battle formation. The battle started and the Greeks ramed into the Persian ships, destroying them. Since the Persian ships were bigger and the Greek ships were more maneuverable, the Persian ships were colliding int one another destroying their own ships. After the Persians lost 1/3 of thier fleet, the admiral ordered a retreat. This ensured a victory for the Greeks.
