- Oh... so you are the cancer patient...well the good news is that there is nothing wrong with your mitochondria!

- Well there is this theory that suggests that mitochondria and chloroplasts were once their own cells, but got absorbed
- Oh...I guess that makes sense.

- That's also why mitochondria and chloroplasts split like bacteria and have their own membranes!
- In this way, mitochondria appear more like tiny bacteria in a eukaryotic cell.

- Ok then why are they inside of a eukaryotic cell at all? Why don't they just leave and live independently?
