Storyboard Text

  • "I'm really getting quite fond of the big room, all but that horrid paper." (59)
  • "We came here solely on my account, that I was to have perfect rest and all the air I could get." (31) (When the Husband says "my" or "I" he is referring to his wife, not himself.)
  • The narrator and her husband go to a vacation home and the place seems very lovely, but the narrator is revolted by the wallpaper in their bedroom. The narrator is also struggling with her mental state.
  • The narrator's mental state worsens so to keep herself occupied she starts to become mezmorised by the wallpaper in their bedroom. Her eating and mood has improved convincing her husband she is healing but mentally, she isn't.
  • "I seemed to be flourishing in spite of my wall-paper." (168) (When the husband says "I" he is referring to the narrator., not himself)
  • "I wonder if they all come out of that wall-paper as I did?/But I am securely fastened now by my well-hidden rope—you don’t get ME out in the road there!/I suppose I shall have to get back behind the pattern when it comes night, and that is hard!" (246-248)
  • The narrator is now obsessed with the wallpaper to where she thinks she sees women who are traped behind it and that she is one of them. She tears up the wallpaper and completely losses her state of mind.
