Captain Computational Thinking's tire popped in the parking lot at his work. Captain Computational remembered how he could use decomposition to fix his tire. He remembered that decomposition is breaking a problem into manageable steps. When the tire popped he knew that he needed to take out the bolts then take off the old tire and then put on the spare. Computational thinking is important in this situation because you dont think of it as a big problem.
Captain Computational Thinking's Phone
Pattern Recognition
"Here Kitty, Kitty" Hm... let me take a picture of you.
Every day when Captain Computational Thinking comes home he puts his phone on the coffee table and when he wanted to take a picture of his cat he didn't know where his phone was. He used pattern recognition to know where his phone was because he puts it in the same place every day so it's a pattern.
Abstraction
Captain Computatioanal Thinking is a teacher and was grading one of his student's papers. The paper was about why is water wet. The student's essay was good in the beginning but in the middle, it was mentioning how the earth spins on its axis. It didn't make any sense, so he used abstraction to remove the un-needed information.
Abstraction is pulling out specific differences to make one solution work for multiple problems.
