Storyboard Text

  • Internal Rhyme
  • "Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there wondering, fearing..."
  • I choose this background because it brings elements of American Gothic due to its supernatural and gloomy components. These are illustrated by the appearance of an angel statue and the dark cemetery. This quote by Edgar Allan Poe's poem The Raven brings a feeling of unsettling where the person is not fearing the darkness itself, but the unknown monsters lurking in it. This quote was taken from the 25th line of the poem.
  • Alliteration
  • "Doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal every dared to dream before..."
  • I decided to use this background because it is an impossible situation that would never occur without a supernatural event or situation. In this quote Edgar Allan Poe is saying that he was thinking or imagining incomprehensible ideas that would appear strange or absurd to others. This quote can be located in line 26.
  • External Rhyme
  • I underwent using this background because it had the fruits of nepenthe in the background which is a supernatural fruit that would make people forget bad memories. In this stanza Edgar Allan Poe is trying to forget his memories of Lenore, aka Virginia, by drinking heavily to the point of hallucination.
  • Swung by Seraphim whose foot-falls tinkled on the tufted floor. “Wretch,” I cried, “thy God hath lent thee—by these angels he hath sent thee Respite—respite and nepenthe from thy memories of Lenore;Quaff, oh quaff this kind nepenthe and forget this lost Lenore!” Quoth the Raven “Nevermore.”
