MEDO will provide a solution for Emergency department physicians. This product will enable them to make more informed triage decisions - admitting the sickest COVID-19 patients to the ICU while sending the others home.
The physician is assisted in acquiring an ultrasound image of the lungs by given immediate feedback as to whether the image was adequate or not. Upon completion of the 12 point scan, they are provided a report of the findings. The report includes the original ultrasound images segmented with findings and quantification of B-lines, and sub pleural consolidations.
Given this information, the physician is well positioned to triage the patient, as was done in Italy successfully for sick COVID-19 patients.
Storyboard Text
Patient is very sick with COVID-19 symptoms and arrives in the emergency department.
They are taken into examining to get further assessed.
A 12 point ultrasound scan is conducted using a portable probe connected to a tablet. Immediate feedback is given as to whether images are adequate.
Within 30 seconds of the final scan, the physician is presented with the findings. This include a score of B-lines, A-lines, and consolidations.
MEDO ReportIncludes report of B-lines, A-lines, and consolidations
These findings represent the severity of disease. Based on this, the physician would make a triage recommendation (admitted to ICU or sent home).
The physician sterilizes the probe / tablet, replaces the plastic sleeves, and waits for the next patient.
