  • The San Pedro maya are a threat due to....
  • WE WILL SEAL BLUE CREEK!
  • BLOCK THE NEW RIVER!
  • Their Yucatec agents disliked the San Pedro leader for defending Maya workers and fed false information to the english captain. Captain Delamere and his men wanted to confront Canul and his men
  • STOP ALL RENT PAYMENTS. WE ALSO WILL ESTABLISH MILITARY POSTS ETC!
  • WE WILL BURN SAN PEDRO DOWN! (BRITISH)
  • The British had 200 armed men waiting for them. The maya told the british that they were looking out for Canul
  • The biritsh concluded that the maya that the San Pedro joined the Icaiche resistance. The government decided to destroy the two. English troops would seal the northwest at Blue Creek and a second detachment would block the escape through the New River. 
  • WE ARE FREE!
  • Major Mackay, a peace commissioner, came from the south and demanded the Maya to surrender. They did not retreat and awaited for British forces. Mackay retreated. The Lieutenant Governor ordered all troops back to Belize to defend the town. Governor Grant of Jamaica established military posts etc.
  • The Maya attacked a Indian Church. The English torched the villages (1867). San Pedro was torched and so were other villages.
  • The Maya threat paralyzed the colony and the British companies needed Maya man power. In 1888, the San Pedro trickled back and rebuilt their villages including San Pedro.
