  • Maybe if I had a mother or womanly figure in my life I would behave better. Listening to my dad and his patriarchal views has made me angry and disgusted by controlling men!
  • Thy husband is thy lord, thy life, thy keeper, Thy head, thy sovereign; one that cares for thee, And for thy maintenance commits his body To painful labour both by sea and land, To watch the night in storms, the day in cold, Whilst thou liest warm at home, secure and safe;

  • I don't need a man, I need to care for myself and take it slow.
  • In the end Katherine is a changed woman. This is because she was controlled and forced to change. Based on her final speech, the reader is entirely unsure if she is serious or not!
