- Mathilde snatches the necklace from Madame Forrestier’s neck in fury, unwilling to accept that she had worked long and hard for nothing.

- Mathilde was going to reveal the truth about the necklace to her husband who was at “work” but she finds out that he had the lost necklace the entire time while having an affair with Madame Forrestier!
- Don’t fret my love, I have a gift for you! See, your necklace is right here!

- Mathilde confronts her husband about the affair but realises that it is she who drove him away from their marriage… All this time while she had thought her husband was gone for work, he has been secretly meeting up with Forrestier, who provided financial aid for the debts.
- EVERYTHING WAS ABOUT YOU IN THAT MARRIAGE!! I HAD TO TEACH YOU A LESSON! FORRESTIER WAS KIND ENOUGH TO HELP SUPPORT ME WHEN YOU DIDN’T!!!
