The story is called The Sky Tree. In the beginning we were introuduced to Sky Land and the Sky Tree.
“My husband,when I cut the tree it split in half and then fell through a greathole. Without the tree, there can be no life. I must follow it.”
We meet a chief and his wife.The wife is called Aataentsic meaning Ancient Woman. The chief is sick and has asked his wife to go get him fruit from the Sky Tree because he had a dream that the fruit could cure him.
Aataentsic went on her way to the great tree with her husband's ax. Once she hit the tree it split in half and fell. AFter it fell this hole opened and the tree went through.
Aataensic went through the hole and found her husband laying waiting for her return,She began telling us about the tree saying without the tree there would be no life.She jumped through the hole..
The animals are all coming together to dive down in the hole and bring up soil.Once they were finished there was a whole new earth awaiting them.
In my opinion this story teaches us to make sacrifices for our loved ones. Aataestic jumped though a hole that appeard for her husband just so he could heal.
