- Mum is alive! You killed Wellington! You lied to me! You're a lier, I don't trust you anymore!

- The story is about Christopher, a fifteen-year-old boy, who loves Math and dogs. He is also interested in solving mysteries. He wants to become an astronaut. He has got a pet rat whose name is Toby. He sometimes has a strange behaviour. Actually, he suffers from the Asperger’s syndrome. He lives with his father in Swindon, England, because his mother died two years ago.
- Climax
- One night Christopher finds Wellington, his neighbour’s poodle, murdered with a garden fork. So, he decides to investigate even if his father told him to mind his own business. Christopher also writes a detective story about his investigations as Siobhan, his teacher, suggested. One day his father finds out what he’s doing, gets angry and hides Christopher’s book in his bedroom. While Christopher is looking for his book, he suddenly finds some letters from his mother and, to his astonishment, realizes Mum is still alive.

- What are you doing here?
- Christopher is sick, his stomach hurts and he feels giddy. His father takes care of him and understands Christopher knows part of the truth. He asks his son to forgive him, but Christopher doesn’t trust his father anymore. He thinks he is a liar.What’s more, his father tells him it was him who killed Wellington. Christopher is upset and spends the night in the garden because he is frightened of his father.
- Resolution
- I'm so proud of you! She is Sandy. You can visit her whenever you want
- Christopher decides to go to live with his mother in London. So, he takes some food, clothes, his pet Toby in its cage, steals his father’s ATM card and goes to the train station, but he is very scared. He has never gone out of his neighbourhood or taken a train before. After many incidents, he arrives in London in the end.
- I can't live with my father anymore, he killed Wellington! I will go to London to live with Mother
- In London, Christopher’s mother and Mr Shears, his mother’s new partner, are very surprised. His mother welcomes Christopher, but Mr Shears is annoyed. Mother and Mr Shears argue every night and, after Mother is fired from work, Christopher and his mum come back to Swindon.
- Hi Mum!
- Christopher takes his A level exam at school. Christopher's mother gets a job at a garden center and they move into a room in a brick house. Christopher has to stay at Father's house everyday after school because Mother works until 5:30 p.m. One day Father gives Christopher a dog, and the boy calls it Sandy. Christopher finds out he got an A in his test, he makes plans for the future and the family is happy again.
