  • On April 15, 1817 the first Deaf school of America was established leaving Gallaudet as the founder and Clerc as the co-founder. They accepted 10-51 years of age and became the best hearing and deaf duo. Though the students did in fact developand switch what they learned to better fit their form.

  • After many years they both got married and had children and soon perished after retirement. Gallaudets son established the Gallaudets University and Clercs students continued to spread his teaching and signs as a way to keep ASL known from the start. After the first school more than 30 more were established and in 1960 ASL was seen as a language.
