Romulus and Remus were the sons of Princess Rhea Silvia, who took an oath to never have children, but she did. The father of the twins was Mars, the Roman god of war.

When Amulius heard of the twins birth, he was afraid that they would soon take his throne. He sent men to kidnap the twins. When they did, they put them in the Tiber River to die, but the cradle the twins were in didn't tip over or sink, they survived.

The twins were found on the Tiber River by a nearby she-wolf, would fed and cared for them along with her other pups.

Shepard who "adopted" twins
A Shepard noticed the children playing. He and his wife were childless, so he crept into the cave while the wolves were sleeping and took them. The twins kind of behaved like wolves, but they soon learned how to be like people from the Shepard and his wife.

The twins somehow met their grandfather, King Numitor, and went into Latium and dethroned Amulius. Their grandfather once again became king and the two brothers saved their mother.

Romulus and Remus couldn't decide on what to call the new city they were constructing. Romulus wanted it to be called "Rome," named after him, but Remus didn't want the city they were building to be named that. The two brothers fought and in the end, Romulus killed Remus and became the first king of Rome. When Romulus died, he became a god of war
