Oh no! My teacher assigned a project for compound sentences, but I don't even know what that is!
Then you're in luck lemme help you!
Lets start with FANBOYS and commas.
Slide: 2
FANBOYS are what go after a comma when correcting a compound sentence. FANBOY is just a common saying it actually is the 6 words we use which are for, are, nor, but, or, and yet.
To put it simple for you a compound sentence is basically the same as two sentences put together with either a comma or a FANBOY
Fan- what now?
An example would be "She forgot her permission slip, so she didn't go on the field trip."
When using a fanboy you have to have a comma before it
Slide: 3
There is another way that you can connect a compound sentence which is just using a semicolon
A fanboy is simply just another way to connect a run on sentence!
Ohh I get it now! Thank you!
So when using an semicolon you don't have to use a Fanboy!
So when you use a semicolon just act like its a regular sentence!
Another example would be "She slept in; she did not go to school."
