- Hi, my name is Frode and I am a Viking. Us vikings were originally based in Norway, Sweden, and Denmark in the but later on we would find ourselves settling in other regions of Europe during the 9th and 10th century. Our lifestyle consists of our raiding villages and towns, and using our skill at sea to defeat our enemies.
- As I mentioned before, our mastery at sea and combat made us formidable enemies. Our use of the longship was revolutionary at the time as they were very fast and could land on shore. These ships would aid in raids, exploration, and combat.
- Us Vikings were also famous for our ferociousness and for our constant raids on European towns and villages. These raids and our affinity for combat grew us a reputation of being savages .
- In the 9th and 10th century, us Vikings would eventually begin to settle in areas such as current day Germany, Great Britain, Russia, and France. In this time period, our expansion and domination over Europe was well known and made us seem unstoppable.
- However, our dominion was not created without conflict.
- However, in 1066, our King Harald Hardrada was defeated by English King Harold Godwinson and this would be the beginning of the end for us and our way of life. Our raiding and expansion decreased, and we began to assimilate with Europe. Many of us also converted to Christianity and our Viking identity eventually disappeared.
